The Gospel of Judas and Other Gnostic Secrets Revealed

“The filmmakers do a good job of comparing the canonical and Gnostic texts… Recommended.” – Video Librarian, May/Jun 2007
"This series, divided into five segments, 11-13 minutes each, provides a Bible-based journey to uncover the truth behind the supposed "secrets" of Gnosticism. Through interviews with theologians and scholars and references to the Gospel writers and early Church Fathers, the viewer comes to understand how Gnostic beliefs originated, their influence on the Church, and their popularity and resurgence today. Be sure to watch the extended interviews with scholars available as a special feature on the DVD. It helps the viewer, both academics and popular audience, grasp more clearly the place of Gnosticism and its relationship to Christianity. The segments note that the Gospel of Judas tells us little about the real Jesus and the real Judas, but do enable the viewers to learn much about Gnosticism as an opponent movement in early Christianity. The discussion helps to provide further foundation for evaluating some of the claims or interpretation made in popular titles like "Reading Judas." "The Gospel of Judas" presents a clear evaluation of the relationship between Christianity and Gnosticism, while the National Geographic's "The Gospel of Judas," ("National Geographic," 2006) presents the supposed history and meaning of the Gospel of Judas, historians and theologians contributing to the discussion. Church libraries will opt for the Vision Video version."

"This topic just does NOT seem to go away. National Geographic is releasing another film on this hot topic. The enthusiasm for this topic is primarily to discredit the Scripture and the original four Gospels. I have spoken to LOTS of Christians that are really confused about this subject. I was recently on a large Christian campus and spoke with a number of students that thought there might be some truth to the claims of this piece of fiction. It is all based on sensational material similar to Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. This film is a five-part series that examines the evidence behind these so-called secrets. Leading historians and scholars will lead you to the truth regarding the popular outrageous claims." - Christian Screen Insights by Dr. Douglas M. Downs, The Outreacher, July 2008
